Bean Buro has teamed up with a local AP consultant to deliver the design and statutory compliances. Bean Buro’s design focused on the refurbishment of the building’s facade and main entrance lobby, which would provide a prominent identity on the main road, a high traffic artery in Hong Kong.
A nature-inspired narrative was the conceptual driver behind the design: We intepreted the foliage qualities of trees, and the works of indigenous Australian artist Emily Kame Kngwarreye (or Emily Kam Ngwarray, 1910 – 1996).
We were inspired by the way nature can be abstracted into a field of geometrical colours. This became a strategy for a system of colourful fins on the facade which responds to the orientation of passersby, and entice visitors towards the mall’s entrance lobby.
