Skylight Atriums

Bean Buro presents a captivating vision for the refurbishment of a retail shopping mall, inspired by the harmonious blending of tranquillity found in Japanese architecture and the refined elegance of French design. To reimagine the mall’s atriums, we propose the integration of skylights, allowing natural light to cascade into the space. These skylights will not only provide ample illumination but also create a connection to the outside world, giving visitors a sense of openness and tranquillity. The soft play of light and shadows will provide a serene ambiance, inviting shoppers to relax and indulge in a peaceful shopping experience.

Bean Buro’s design for the retail shopping mall refurbishment combines the tranquillity of Japanese architecture with the elegance of French design. The integration of skylights, retractable fabric drapes, and digital projections creates a captivating and dynamic atmosphere that engages shoppers in a unique and immersive experience. With sustainability at its core, our design not only offers an aesthetically pleasing environment but also ensures a responsible approach towards environmental conservation. Through this refurbishment, the mall will transform into a haven of tranquillity and sophistication, providing shoppers with a memorable and mindful retail experience.

Complementing the skylights, a concept of fabric drapes will be suspended from the atrium ceilings. These electronically controlled roller blinds, with retractable functionality, will add a touch of drama to the space, enabling the mall to adapt to different moods and occasions. The drapes will be crafted from sustainable and eco-friendly materials, prioritising environmental consciousness while enhancing the aesthetics of the atrium environment.

The versatility of the fabric drapes takes centre stage as they become a canvas for digital projections. By integrating the latest projection technology, these drapes will transform the atriums into immersive visual experiences. Customers will be captivated by the ever-changing dynamic displays that harmonise with the overall design concept. From art installations to seasonal themes and brand promotions, the drapes will enhance the shopping experience by engaging visitors in an imaginative and interactive manner.

“Bean Buro envisions a retail mall blending Japanese tranquillity with French elegance. We prioritise sustainability, using skylights, fabric drapes, and digital projections. Our eco-friendly approach and reduced energy consumption create an immersive shopping experience filled with serenity and sophistication.”

— Lorène Faure, co-founder of Bean Buro

Sustainability is a paramount consideration in our design. Every aspect of the refurbishment will be approached with an environmentally conscious mindset. The use of skylights reduces the dependency on artificial lighting, saving energy and reducing the mall’s carbon footprint. The fabric drapes will be made from recyclable and sustainably sourced materials, ensuring minimal impact on the environment. Furthermore, our design aims to incorporate eco-friendly systems for climate control and energy management, optimising the mall’s efficiency while providing a comfortable environment for shoppers.
