Retail Revitalisation
In this design proposal, Bean Buro aims to revitalise the common areas of a retail shopping mall, with a particular focus on customers’ toilet corridors. By incorporating graphical illustrations inspired by landscapes, we seek to create an immersive experience that fosters relaxation and convenience.

Design Concept
Our guiding principle is to mimic natural environments within the built space to provide visitors with a sense of tranquility and escape. Drawing inspiration from various landscapes, including serene forests, tranquil beaches, and picturesque gardens, we utilise graphical illustrations to transform the mundane into the extraordinary.
Organic Intuitions
The walls and floors of the customers’ toilet corridors serve as the canvas for our design narrative. Through the use of graphic techniques, we aim to craft organic intuitions that evoke the sensation of being surrounded by nature. The walls shall be adorned with murals depicting lush foliage, cascading waterfalls, and blooming flowers, creating a seamless transition between the built environment and the natural world. The flooring, too, shall reflect aspects of the chosen landscapes, with patterns resembling stepping stones over babbling brooks or sand dunes in a serene desert.
Relaxation Seating
Understanding the need for a respite amidst a bustling shopping mall, our design includes strategically placed relaxation seating. Curved benches, reminiscent of the gentle contours of hills, will be installed in alcoves and nooks along the corridors. Soft upholstery, inspired by natural textures such as moss or sand, will provide a comfortable and inviting space for visitors to rest and rejuvenate.
Water Points
To enhance the overall user experience, we propose the incorporation of water points in the common areas. Mimicking the tranquillity of a mountain spring, these water points will provide visitors with fresh drinking water, encouraging them to hydrate and stay refreshed during their shopping experience. The design will integrate sculptural elements inspired by natural water sources, evoking a sense of harmony with the surrounding landscape.
Phone Charging Facilities
In acknowledgment of the modern digital age, we understand the importance of providing convenient amenities to shoppers. Along the corridor, discreetly integrated within the organic illustrations, we propose the installation of phone charging facilities. These stations will be designed to blend seamlessly with the surroundings, resembling small rocks or logs, ensuring that shoppers can recharge their devices without disrupting the visual cohesiveness of the space.
Bean Buro’s design for the retail shopping mall refurbishment places an emphasis on creating a unique and immersive experience for shoppers. By incorporating graphical illustrations inspired by landscapes, we aim to bring the organic intuitions of nature into the common areas. From the lush murals on the walls to the floor patterns mirroring serene natural landscapes, every detail has been carefully considered. The inclusion of relaxation seating, water points, and phone charging facilities ensures that visitors have access to convenience and comfort during their time at the mall. This design proposal is a testament to our commitment to innovative and user-centric spaces, fostering a profound connection between humans and their surroundings, even within a bustling retail environment.
